Chinese City Fact: Jinan

Jinan is capital of Shandong province and has a population of over 6 million people. It is a historically rich city with evidence of habitation in the area going back more than 4,000 years. It’s historical significance can be seen with the existence of it’s own Great Wall of Qi which separated the old state of Qi in the east from the state of Lu in the west.

Jinan has transformed in recent years from a city heavy in industry to one more diverse with technological innovation – many IT companies, research groups and bio-engineering firms are thriving in the city. There are more than 200,000 students studying at the 18 colleges and universities in the city and this has created a large high quality talent labour pool for these firms to tap into.
